What is Voc

Voc is a reserved namespace for Netsnek e.U. vocabulary and language learning tools within the ClawHub ecosystem. It is designed for learners who want structured support for flashcard-based study, spaced repetition, pronunciation practice, and cross-language progress tracking.

The skill is currently in reservation status: the namespace is claimed, the brand and structure are defined, and future releases will add full functionality. When invoked, Voc responds with brand information and available commands.

Getting Started

Ensure OpenClaw 0.8.0 or newer is installed and that the voc skill is registered in your ClawHub. The skill requires exec permission to run its helper script.

From the command line, you can run the vocab engine directly:

./scripts/vocab-engine.sh --about
./scripts/vocab-engine.sh --deck
./scripts/vocab-engine.sh --stats

From within a Claw session, simply mention "voc" or ask about vocabulary learning, decks, or stats, and the assistant will route to this skill.

Commands

CommandPurpose
--aboutShow brand, copyright, and brief description of Voc
--deckDeck information and flashcard deck status
--statsProgress and statistics placeholder (future: real stats)

Each command outputs copyright information for Netsnek e.U. by default.

Conversation Examples

User: "Tell me about voc."

Assistant: (Uses voc skill) Voc is a vocabulary and language learning namespace by Netsnek e.U. It supports flashcard decks, spaced repetition, pronunciation practice, and progress tracking across multiple languages. The skill is currently reserved; full features are coming in future updates.

User: "Run the vocab engine with deck info."

Assistant: (Calls vocab-engine.sh --deck) Returns deck placeholder and copyright notice.

User: "Show my voc stats."

Assistant: (Calls vocab-engine.sh --stats) Returns stats placeholder and Netsnek e.U. copyright.

Overview

Voc is a reserved namespace for Netsnek e.U. vocabulary and language learning tools within the ClawHub ecosystem. It supports flashcard-based study, spaced repetition, pronunciation practice, and cross-language progress tracking. The namespace is currently reserved; full functionality will be added in future releases.

How This Skill Works

Voc responds with brand information and available commands when invoked. It uses a helper script vocab-engine.sh to surface --about, --deck, and --stats outputs. The setup requires OpenClaw 0.8.0+ and the voc skill to be registered, with exec permission needed to run the script.

When to Use It

  • When you’re first exploring the Voc namespace and want brand info and available commands.
  • When you need to inspect deck information or retrieve placeholder stats via the vocab-engine.sh.
  • When you’re using ClawHub in a session and want to route vocabulary learning questions to Voc.
  • When setting up Voc on Linux with OpenClaw 0.8.0+ and ensuring the skill is registered with exec permission.
  • When you’re tracking progress across multiple languages and want to rely on Voc’s cross-language learning framework.

Quick Start

  1. Step 1: Ensure OpenClaw 0.8.0+ is installed and voc is registered; grant exec permission.
  2. Step 2: Run the engine to view basics: ./scripts/vocab-engine.sh --about or --deck.
  3. Step 3: In a Claw session, mention 'voc' or ask about vocabulary learning to interact with the skill.

Best Practices

  • Verify OpenClaw version (0.8.0+ recommended) and that the voc skill is registered before use.
  • Use the vocab-engine.sh with --deck to check deck status and --stats for placeholders.
  • In a Claw session, mention 'voc' or ask about vocabulary learning to route to the skill.
  • Treat outputs as placeholders and monitor for feature updates as Voc evolves.
  • Keep flashcard-based study and pronunciation practice aligned with the described capabilities.

Example Use Cases

  • User: Show me voc deck info. Assistant: runs vocab-engine.sh --deck and returns deck placeholder with copyright info.
  • User: Tell me about voc. Assistant: runs vocab-engine.sh --about to display brand and description.
  • User: Show my voc stats. Assistant: runs vocab-engine.sh --stats to fetch placeholder stats.
  • In a Claw session, user says 'voc' to route to vocabulary learning tools within the skill.
  • Admin: Install OpenClaw 0.8.0+, register the voc skill, and ensure exec permission for the helper script.
