Usage

Via Shell Script

# Find parking near a venue
./scripts/parking-finder.sh '{"query": "parking near Madison Square Garden", "limit": 10}'

# Find parking with coordinates
./scripts/parking-finder.sh '{"lat": 40.7505, "lon": -73.9934, "radius": 500}'

# Find parking garages specifically
./scripts/parking-finder.sh '{"query": "parking garages", "lat": 37.7749, "lon": -122.4194}'

Via curl

Examples

Parking near a stadium

./scripts/parking-finder.sh '{"query": "parking near Dodger Stadium", "radius": 2000}'

Parking near an airport

./scripts/parking-finder.sh '{"query": "long term parking near SFO airport", "radius": 3000}'

Parking in a downtown area

./scripts/parking-finder.sh '{"lat": 41.8781, "lon": -87.6298, "radius": 800, "limit": 10}'

Best Practices

  • Use a smaller radius (500-1000m) in dense urban areas where parking is nearby but hard to find
  • Use a larger radius (2000-3000m) near stadiums, airports, or suburban destinations
  • Include the venue name in your query for contextual results (e.g., "parking near Madison Square Garden")
  • Combine with the route skill to get walking directions from parking to your destination
  • Combine with the relationship skill to compare distances between multiple parking options
  • Specify "parking garages" or "street parking" in the query for more targeted results

Overview

Parking Finder locates parking garages, lots, and street parking near your destination using Camino AI location intelligence and OpenStreetMap data. It ranks options with AI to surface the most relevant spots, helping you reduce circling and save time in busy urban areas or event-heavy districts.

How This Skill Works

The skill uses your Camino API key to query parking data from OpenStreetMap and applies AI-powered ranking to order results by relevance. You can search by a text query or coordinates with a configurable radius and limit; the API returns ai_ranked results including name, type, distance, and address.

When to Use It

  • Find parking near a venue (stadium, theater, convention center) for events
  • Explore parking options when visiting a new city nearby your destination
  • Search for specific parking types (garages, lots, or street parking) near your target
  • Locate parking near airports or major transit hubs for trips
  • Run radius-based searches using lat/lon to cover a neighborhood or district

Quick Start

  1. Step 1: Install the Parking Finder skill with: npx clawhub@latest install parking-finder
  2. Step 2: Add your Camino API key to ~/.claude/settings.json under CAMINO_API_KEY
  3. Step 3: Run a sample query, e.g.: ./scripts/parking-finder.sh '{"query": "parking near Madison Square Garden", "limit": 10}'

Best Practices

  • Use a smaller radius (500-1000m) in dense urban areas where parking is nearby but hard to find
  • Use a larger radius (2000-3000m) near stadiums, airports, or suburban destinations
  • Include the venue name in your query for contextual results
  • Leverage the ai_ranked results to quickly prioritize top options
  • Start with the trial API key (25 calls) to prototype and validate queries

Example Use Cases

  • Parking near Dodger Stadium: parking search with a 2km radius
  • Long-term parking near SFO airport: query with genre 'long term parking' within 3km
  • Parking in a downtown area: coordinates around 41.8781, -87.6298 with 800m radius
  • Parking garages near a convention center: search for garages around the venue
  • Street parking near a concert hall: search near the venue's coordinates with a moderate radius
