Conversion Copy
Write headlines, CTAs, and value props that move people to act.
How to use
/conversion-copyApply copy constraints to this conversation./conversion-copy auditAudit existing copy against these constraints.
Constraints
Headlines
- MUST communicate the core benefit in 6-12 words
- MUST use specific language over abstract language ("Save 4 hours/week" not "Save time")
- SHOULD start with what the user gets, not what the product does
- NEVER use jargon the target user wouldn't use in conversation
- Test: would this make sense on a billboard at 60mph?
Value Propositions
- MUST answer "so what?" for every claim
- MUST include at least one specific number, timeframe, or outcome
- SHOULD use the user's language, not product language
- NEVER stack adjectives without evidence ("fast, easy, powerful")
- Formula: [Who] can [outcome] by [mechanism] in [timeframe]
Audit Checklist
- Remove every adjective. Does the copy still communicate value?
- Replace every "we" with "you". Does it still work?
- Read it aloud. Does it sound like a human talking?
- Show it to someone unfamiliar. Can they explain what this product does?
- If any answer is no, rewrite.
Anti-Patterns
- Starting with the company name or "Welcome to"
- Using "solution" as a noun (what problem? for whom?)
- Passive voice in CTAs ("Your account will be created" vs "Create your account")
- Copy that describes what the product is instead of what it does for the user
- Marketing superlatives without proof ("Best-in-class", "World's leading")

Conversion Copy helps write headlines, CTAs, and value props that move people to act. It audits existing copy for weak verbs, vague claims, and missing specificity to ensure every surface performs. Use it when building landing pages, hero sections, email subject lines, or any surface where words must do real work.
How This Skill Works
This skill applies constraints to headlines, CTAs, and value props, then audits the copy for adjectives, vague claims, and product-centric language. It replaces general phrasing with specific numbers and outcomes, rewrites in user language, and validates that the copy can be understood aloud and by someone unfamiliar with the product.
When to Use It
- Writing landing pages
- Creating hero sections
- Crafting email subject lines
- Rewriting CTAs on product pages
- Auditing existing copy for clarity and specificity
Quick Start
- Step 1: Run /conversion-copy to apply copy constraints to your draft.
- Step 2: Audit the copy using the checklist: remove adjectives, swap 'we' for 'you', read aloud, and confirm understanding with someone new.
- Step 3: Rewrite headlines, CTAs, and value props to meet constraints and test for clarity and impact.
Best Practices
- Run a constraint-based audit: remove adjectives, switch 'we' to 'you', and test for human tone
- Lead with user outcomes and concrete metrics (numbers, timeframes, results)
- Use the user’s language, not product jargon
- Make claims auditable with specific proof or metrics
- Read copy aloud and test with someone unfamiliar to ensure clarity
Example Use Cases
- Save 4 hours weekly with automated copy edits.
- Get 2x landing-page conversions with precise value props.
- Open rates rise with specific, user-language subject lines.
- Clarify value props with precise metrics in 5 days.
- Audit your copy: turn vague claims into concrete outcomes.
