Zoho Mail Automation via Rube MCP

Automate Zoho Mail operations through Composio's Zoho Mail toolkit via Rube MCP.

Toolkit docs: composio.dev/toolkits/zoho_mail

Prerequisites

  • Rube MCP must be connected (RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS available)
  • Active Zoho Mail connection via RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS with toolkit zoho_mail
  • Always call RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS first to get current tool schemas

Setup

Get Rube MCP: Add https://rube.app/mcp as an MCP server in your client configuration. No API keys needed — just add the endpoint and it works.

  1. Verify Rube MCP is available by confirming RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS responds
  2. Call RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS with toolkit zoho_mail
  3. If connection is not ACTIVE, follow the returned auth link to complete setup
  4. Confirm connection status shows ACTIVE before running any workflows

Tool Discovery

Always discover available tools before executing workflows:

RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS
queries: [{use_case: "Zoho Mail operations", known_fields: ""}]
session: {generate_id: true}

This returns available tool slugs, input schemas, recommended execution plans, and known pitfalls.

Core Workflow Pattern

Step 1: Discover Available Tools

RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS
queries: [{use_case: "your specific Zoho Mail task"}]
session: {id: "existing_session_id"}

Step 2: Check Connection

RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS
toolkits: ["zoho_mail"]
session_id: "your_session_id"

Step 3: Execute Tools

RUBE_MULTI_EXECUTE_TOOL
tools: [{
  tool_slug: "TOOL_SLUG_FROM_SEARCH",
  arguments: {/* schema-compliant args from search results */}
}]
memory: {}
session_id: "your_session_id"

Known Pitfalls

  • Always search first: Tool schemas change. Never hardcode tool slugs or arguments without calling RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS
  • Check connection: Verify RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS shows ACTIVE status before executing tools
  • Schema compliance: Use exact field names and types from the search results
  • Memory parameter: Always include memory in RUBE_MULTI_EXECUTE_TOOL calls, even if empty ({})
  • Session reuse: Reuse session IDs within a workflow. Generate new ones for new workflows
  • Pagination: Check responses for pagination tokens and continue fetching until complete

Overview

Automate Zoho Mail operations through Composio's Zoho Mail toolkit via Rube MCP. Prerequisites include a connected Rube MCP and an ACTIVE Zoho Mail connection. Always call RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS first to fetch current tool schemas.

How This Skill Works

Begin by discovering available Zoho Mail tools with RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS. Then verify the Zoho Mail connection with RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS and finally execute the chosen tools using RUBE_MULTI_EXECUTE_TOOL, supplying memory and session_id as required.

When to Use It

  • Automate routine Zoho Mail tasks like auto-replies, labeling, and routing.
  • Bulk operations: apply labels or move emails to folders across many messages.
  • Set up new workflows only after confirming ACTIVE Zoho Mail connection.
  • Always discover current tool schemas before building or updating workflows.
  • Reuse session IDs and memory in multi-tool executions for complex tasks.

Quick Start

  1. Step 1: Verify Rube MCP is accessible and that RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS returns Zoho Mail tools.
  2. Step 2: Connect Zoho Mail via RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS with toolkit zoho_mail and ensure ACTIVE.
  3. Step 3: Execute a discovered tool with RUBE_MULTI_EXECUTE_TOOL using a session_id and an empty memory object if needed.

Best Practices

  • Always call RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS first to get current tool schemas.
  • Check that RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS shows ACTIVE before executing.
  • Use exact field names and types from the search results.
  • Include memory in RUBE_MULTI_EXECUTE_TOOL calls, even if empty.
  • Reuse sessions where possible and handle pagination tokens.

Example Use Cases

  • Auto-reply customer emails with a canned response.
  • Label, archive, or forward Zoho Mail messages based on content.
  • Route incoming tickets to a team channel or task list.
  • Batch-update subject lines or priorities for newsletters.
  • Validate tool schemas periodically by re-discovering tools before heavy workflows.
