Zoho Invoice Automation via Rube MCP

Automate Zoho Invoice operations through Composio's Zoho Invoice toolkit via Rube MCP.

Toolkit docs: composio.dev/toolkits/zoho_invoice

Prerequisites

  • Rube MCP must be connected (RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS available)
  • Active Zoho Invoice connection via RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS with toolkit zoho_invoice
  • Always call RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS first to get current tool schemas

Setup

Get Rube MCP: Add https://rube.app/mcp as an MCP server in your client configuration. No API keys needed β€” just add the endpoint and it works.

  1. Verify Rube MCP is available by confirming RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS responds
  2. Call RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS with toolkit zoho_invoice
  3. If connection is not ACTIVE, follow the returned auth link to complete setup
  4. Confirm connection status shows ACTIVE before running any workflows

Tool Discovery

Always discover available tools before executing workflows:

RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS
queries: [{use_case: "Zoho Invoice operations", known_fields: ""}]
session: {generate_id: true}

This returns available tool slugs, input schemas, recommended execution plans, and known pitfalls.

Core Workflow Pattern

Step 1: Discover Available Tools

RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS
queries: [{use_case: "your specific Zoho Invoice task"}]
session: {id: "existing_session_id"}

Step 2: Check Connection

RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS
toolkits: ["zoho_invoice"]
session_id: "your_session_id"

Step 3: Execute Tools

RUBE_MULTI_EXECUTE_TOOL
tools: [{
  tool_slug: "TOOL_SLUG_FROM_SEARCH",
  arguments: {/* schema-compliant args from search results */}
}]
memory: {}
session_id: "your_session_id"

Known Pitfalls

  • Always search first: Tool schemas change. Never hardcode tool slugs or arguments without calling RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS
  • Check connection: Verify RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS shows ACTIVE status before executing tools
  • Schema compliance: Use exact field names and types from the search results
  • Memory parameter: Always include memory in RUBE_MULTI_EXECUTE_TOOL calls, even if empty ({})
  • Session reuse: Reuse session IDs within a workflow. Generate new ones for new workflows
  • Pagination: Check responses for pagination tokens and continue fetching until complete

Overview

Automate Zoho Invoice operations through Composio's Zoho Invoice toolkit via Rube MCP. This skill relies on discovering current tool schemas with RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS and verifying an ACTIVE Zoho Invoice connection before executing workflows.

How This Skill Works

First discover available tools using RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS with use_case set to Zoho Invoice operations. Then check the connection with RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS for the zoho_invoice toolkit, ensuring the status is ACTIVE. Finally execute the chosen tool with RUBE_MULTI_EXECUTE_TOOL, passing the discovered tool_slug and the required arguments, and include memory (even if empty) as part of the call.

When to Use It

  • When you need to perform a specific Zoho Invoice operation by first discovering the current available tools with RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS.
  • When you must verify or establish an ACTIVE Zoho Invoice connection via RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS before running workflows.
  • When you are ready to run a discovered Zoho Invoice tool with exact schema arguments using RUBE_MULTI_EXECUTE_TOOL.
  • When performing bulk or batch Zoho Invoice tasks using RUBE_REMOTE_WORKBENCH and run_composio_tool.
  • When tool schemas may have changed; always re-run RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS to fetch current slugs and arguments instead of hardcoding.

Quick Start

  1. Step 1: RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS queries: [{use_case: "Zoho Invoice operations", known_fields: ""}] session: {generate_id: true}
  2. Step 2: RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS toolkits: ["zoho_invoice"] session_id: "your_session_id"
  3. Step 3: RUBE_MULTI_EXECUTE_TOOL tools: [{tool_slug: "TOOL_SLUG_FROM_SEARCH", arguments: {/* schema-compliant args from search results */}}] memory: {} session_id: "your_session_id"

Best Practices

  • Always search first: tool schemas change; don’t hardcode tool slugs or arguments.
  • Check connection: ensure RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS shows ACTIVE before executing tools.
  • Use exact field names and types from the search results; no guesswork.
  • Include memory in RUBE_MULTI_EXECUTE_TOOL calls, even if empty ({}).
  • Reuse session IDs within a workflow and avoid creating new sessions for each step.

Example Use Cases

  • Discover tools for Zoho Invoice operations and choose the appropriate tool_slug to automate a task.
  • Connect to the zoho_invoice toolkit and confirm ACTIVE status before executing a workflow.
  • Execute a discovered Zoho Invoice tool using RUBE_MULTI_EXECUTE_TOOL with the required arguments and memory.
  • Perform bulk Zoho Invoice operations via RUBE_REMOTE_WORKBENCH and run_composio_tool.
  • Query full tool schemas with RUBE_GET_TOOL_SCHEMAS to verify inputs align with current schemas.
