Zoho Automation via Rube MCP

Automate Zoho operations through Composio's Zoho toolkit via Rube MCP.

Toolkit docs: composio.dev/toolkits/zoho

Prerequisites

  • Rube MCP must be connected (RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS available)
  • Active Zoho connection via RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS with toolkit zoho
  • Always call RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS first to get current tool schemas

Setup

Get Rube MCP: Add https://rube.app/mcp as an MCP server in your client configuration. No API keys needed — just add the endpoint and it works.

  1. Verify Rube MCP is available by confirming RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS responds
  2. Call RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS with toolkit zoho
  3. If connection is not ACTIVE, follow the returned auth link to complete setup
  4. Confirm connection status shows ACTIVE before running any workflows

Tool Discovery

Always discover available tools before executing workflows:

RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS
queries: [{use_case: "Zoho operations", known_fields: ""}]
session: {generate_id: true}

This returns available tool slugs, input schemas, recommended execution plans, and known pitfalls.

Core Workflow Pattern

Step 1: Discover Available Tools

RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS
queries: [{use_case: "your specific Zoho task"}]
session: {id: "existing_session_id"}

Step 2: Check Connection

RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS
toolkits: ["zoho"]
session_id: "your_session_id"

Step 3: Execute Tools

RUBE_MULTI_EXECUTE_TOOL
tools: [{
  tool_slug: "TOOL_SLUG_FROM_SEARCH",
  arguments: {/* schema-compliant args from search results */}
}]
memory: {}
session_id: "your_session_id"

Known Pitfalls

  • Always search first: Tool schemas change. Never hardcode tool slugs or arguments without calling RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS
  • Check connection: Verify RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS shows ACTIVE status before executing tools
  • Schema compliance: Use exact field names and types from the search results
  • Memory parameter: Always include memory in RUBE_MULTI_EXECUTE_TOOL calls, even if empty ({})
  • Session reuse: Reuse session IDs within a workflow. Generate new ones for new workflows
  • Pagination: Check responses for pagination tokens and continue fetching until complete

Overview

Automate Zoho tasks through Composio's Zoho toolkit using Rube MCP. This skill emphasizes discovering current tool schemas, establishing an Active Zoho connection, and orchestrating tool executions with schema-compliant inputs.

How This Skill Works

Start by querying RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS to fetch the latest Zoho tool schemas and recommended execution plans. Then verify the Zoho connection with RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS and ensure the status is ACTIVE. Finally, execute a discovered tool via RUBE_MULTI_EXECUTE_TOOL, supplying the required arguments and a memory payload.

When to Use It

  • When you need to create or update Zoho CRM records automatically after an external trigger, ensuring the tool schemas are current first.
  • When syncing Zoho Books invoices with an external system to keep financial records aligned.
  • When converting customer inquiries into Zoho Desk tickets for support workflows.
  • When performing bulk updates to Zoho CRM contacts or tasks based on external data changes.
  • When you want to validate and safely execute Zoho operations by reusing an active session and avoiding hardcoded tool slugs.

Quick Start

  1. Step 1: Get Rube MCP by adding https://rube.app/mcp as an MCP server in your client configuration. No API keys needed.
  2. Step 2: Verify RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS responds to confirm current Zoho tool schemas.
  3. Step 3: Use RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS with toolkits: ["zoho"] and then run RUBE_MULTI_EXECUTE_TOOL with the discovered tool slug and memory payload.

Best Practices

  • Always call RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS first to get current tool schemas and avoid stale slugs or arguments.
  • Check that RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS shows ACTIVE before executing any tools.
  • Use exact field names and types from the search results to ensure schema compliance.
  • Include memory in every RUBE_MULTI_EXECUTE_TOOL call, even if empty ({}).
  • Reuse session IDs within a workflow and generate a new session only for new workflows.

Example Use Cases

  • Create a Zoho CRM lead when a new user signs up on your platform.
  • Sync Zoho CRM contact records with an external marketing system on data updates.
  • Auto-create Zoho Desk tickets from live customer chat messages.
  • Generate Zoho Books invoices when an order reaches the fulfilled status.
  • Bulk update Zoho CRM tasks based on project progress data from an external source.
