TripAdvisor Automation via Rube MCP

Automate TripAdvisor operations through Composio's TripAdvisor toolkit via Rube MCP.

Toolkit docs: composio.dev/toolkits/tripadvisor_content_api

Prerequisites

  • Rube MCP must be connected (RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS available)
  • Active TripAdvisor connection via RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS with toolkit tripadvisor_content_api
  • Always call RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS first to get current tool schemas

Setup

Get Rube MCP: Add https://rube.app/mcp as an MCP server in your client configuration. No API keys needed — just add the endpoint and it works.

  1. Verify Rube MCP is available by confirming RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS responds
  2. Call RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS with toolkit tripadvisor_content_api
  3. If connection is not ACTIVE, follow the returned auth link to complete setup
  4. Confirm connection status shows ACTIVE before running any workflows

Tool Discovery

Always discover available tools before executing workflows:

RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS
queries: [{use_case: "TripAdvisor operations", known_fields: ""}]
session: {generate_id: true}

This returns available tool slugs, input schemas, recommended execution plans, and known pitfalls.

Core Workflow Pattern

Step 1: Discover Available Tools

RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS
queries: [{use_case: "your specific TripAdvisor task"}]
session: {id: "existing_session_id"}

Step 2: Check Connection

RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS
toolkits: ["tripadvisor_content_api"]
session_id: "your_session_id"

Step 3: Execute Tools

RUBE_MULTI_EXECUTE_TOOL
tools: [{
  tool_slug: "TOOL_SLUG_FROM_SEARCH",
  arguments: {/* schema-compliant args from search results */}
}]
memory: {}
session_id: "your_session_id"

Known Pitfalls

  • Always search first: Tool schemas change. Never hardcode tool slugs or arguments without calling RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS
  • Check connection: Verify RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS shows ACTIVE status before executing tools
  • Schema compliance: Use exact field names and types from the search results
  • Memory parameter: Always include memory in RUBE_MULTI_EXECUTE_TOOL calls, even if empty ({})
  • Session reuse: Reuse session IDs within a workflow. Generate new ones for new workflows
  • Pagination: Check responses for pagination tokens and continue fetching until complete

Overview

Automate TripAdvisor operations using Composio's TripAdvisor toolkit with Rube MCP. The workflow emphasizes discovering current tool schemas first, ensuring an ACTIVE TripAdvisor connection, and executing tools with memory-safe steps to keep processes reliable and up-to-date.

How This Skill Works

First, discover available TripAdvisor tools and their input schemas with RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS. Next, verify the TripAdvisor connection using RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS and ensure the status is ACTIVE. Finally, run the chosen tool via RUBE_MULTI_EXECUTE_TOOL, supplying the discovered tool_slug, schema-compliant arguments, memory, and a session_id for continuity.

When to Use It

  • Automate updating TripAdvisor listing content (descriptions, photos) using discovered tools.
  • Run an end-to-end workflow: discover tools, check connection, then execute.
  • When tool schemas may change—always use RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS before execution.
  • Handle paginated TripAdvisor responses by continuing fetches using tokens.
  • Bulk edits across multiple listings via RUBE_MULTI_EXECUTE_TOOL or RUBE_REMOTE_WORKBENCH.

Quick Start

  1. Step 1: Ensure Rube MCP is connected and RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS responds.
  2. Step 2: Discover available TripAdvisor tools with RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS and review tool slugs/schemas.
  3. Step 3: Check connection with RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS, then execute a tool with RUBE_MULTI_EXECUTE_TOOL using the discovered slug, providing memory and a session_id.

Best Practices

  • Always call RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS before any execution to get current tool slugs and schemas.
  • Verify RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS shows ACTIVE status prior to running tools.
  • Use exact field names and types from the search results; avoid hardcoding slugs.
  • Include memory in RUBE_MULTI_EXECUTE_TOOL calls, even if empty ({}).
  • Reuse session IDs within a workflow and manage pagination tokens when present.

Example Use Cases

  • Update a property's TripAdvisor description using a live tool slug retrieved from RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS.
  • Audit content by discovering tools and then executing a content-refresh tool for listings.
  • Fetch paginated TripAdvisor content (reviews, photos) and export to a report.
  • Connect to TripAdvisor via the tripadvisor_content_api toolkit and perform bulk edits across listings.
  • Use RUBE_REMOTE_WORKBENCH to run run_composio_tool for batch TripAdvisor operations.
