Automate Taxjar operations through Composio's Taxjar toolkit via Rube MCP.
Toolkit docs: composio.dev/toolkits/taxjar
Prerequisites
- Rube MCP must be connected (RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS available)
- Active Taxjar connection via
RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONSwith toolkittaxjar - Always call
RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLSfirst to get current tool schemas
Setup
Get Rube MCP: Add https://rube.app/mcp as an MCP server in your client configuration. No API keys needed β just add the endpoint and it works.
- Verify Rube MCP is available by confirming
RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLSresponds - Call
RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONSwith toolkittaxjar - If connection is not ACTIVE, follow the returned auth link to complete setup
- Confirm connection status shows ACTIVE before running any workflows
Tool Discovery
Always discover available tools before executing workflows:
RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS
queries: [{use_case: "Taxjar operations", known_fields: ""}]
session: {generate_id: true}
This returns available tool slugs, input schemas, recommended execution plans, and known pitfalls.
Core Workflow Pattern
Step 1: Discover Available Tools
RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS
queries: [{use_case: "your specific Taxjar task"}]
session: {id: "existing_session_id"}
Step 2: Check Connection
RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS
toolkits: ["taxjar"]
session_id: "your_session_id"
Step 3: Execute Tools
RUBE_MULTI_EXECUTE_TOOL
tools: [{
tool_slug: "TOOL_SLUG_FROM_SEARCH",
arguments: {/* schema-compliant args from search results */}
}]
memory: {}
session_id: "your_session_id"
Known Pitfalls
- Always search first: Tool schemas change. Never hardcode tool slugs or arguments without calling
RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS - Check connection: Verify
RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONSshows ACTIVE status before executing tools - Schema compliance: Use exact field names and types from the search results
- Memory parameter: Always include
memoryinRUBE_MULTI_EXECUTE_TOOLcalls, even if empty ({}) - Session reuse: Reuse session IDs within a workflow. Generate new ones for new workflows
- Pagination: Check responses for pagination tokens and continue fetching until complete

Automate Taxjar operations using Composio's Taxjar toolkit through Rube MCP. This skill streamlines discovery of current tool schemas, establishes an active Taxjar connection, and executes automated Taxjar workflows to improve accuracy and speed.
How This Skill Works
Start by querying available tools with RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS to fetch current Taxjar schemas. Then manage the Taxjar connection via RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS and ensure its status is ACTIVE. Finally, execute the discovered tools using RUBE_MULTI_EXECUTE_TOOL, supplying the correct tool_slug, memory payload, and session_id; renew or reuse sessions as needed for multi-step workflows.
When to Use It
- When you need a Taxjar operation and want to ensure youβre using the latest tool schemas.
- When setting up or verifying an active Taxjar connection before running workflows.
- When executing a sequence of Taxjar tools in a single session (multi-tool workflow).
- When handling paginated responses or large result sets from Taxjar tool queries.
- When automating recurring Taxjar tasks (e.g., monthly filings or rate lookups) with standardized sessions.
Quick Start
- Step 1: Verify RUBE MCP connectivity by running RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS and confirming a Taxjar tool set is returned.
- Step 2: Run RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS with toolkits: ["taxjar"] and ensure the connection status is ACTIVE.
- Step 3: Discover a Taxjar tool with RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS, then execute it via RUBE_MULTI_EXECUTE_TOOL using the slug and a memory payload; reuse session_id for related steps.
Best Practices
- Always call RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS first to obtain current tool schemas.
- Verify RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS shows ACTIVE before executing tools.
- Use exact field names and types from the discovered tool schemas.
- Include memory in every RUBE_MULTI_EXECUTE_TOOL call, even if empty.
- Reuse session IDs within a workflow and generate new ones for new workflows.
Example Use Cases
- Discover Taxjar tools, connect, and run a rate lookup followed by a tax calculation in a single session.
- Create a reusable session to process a batch of transactions with tax calculations and filings using multiple Taxjar tools.
- Handle a paginated list of tax rates, continuing fetches until all pages are processed.
- Update tool usage after a schema change by re-discovering tools before execution.
- Bulk-run multiple Taxjar tasks via RUBE_REMOTE_WORKBENCH using run_composio_tool() for throughput automation.
