How to use

MCP Dock is an all-in-one MCP Server Manager that helps you discover, install, configure, and manage MCP servers and skills from a unified interface. It aggregates servers from official registries and community sources, provides an MCP Inspector for interactive testing, and supports syncing configurations across multiple clients. With MCP Dock, you can browse the MCP Store to find a server, install and auto-configure it for various clients like Cursor, Claude Code, Gemini CLI, Codex CLI, Windsurf, Zed, TRAE, Opencode, and Agent Skills, and then manage backups and rollbacks of your configurations. Use the MCP Inspector to run quick tests on server tools and verify that each server is reachable and properly configured before deploying to your clients.

How to install

Prerequisites:

  • A supported operating system (macOS, Windows, or Linux) with internet access for initial setup.
  • Basic familiarity with installing desktop applications.

Installation steps:

  1. Visit the official MCP Dock repository or the release page and download the appropriate installer for your OS (macOS, Windows, or Linux).
  2. Run the downloaded installer and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.
  3. Launch MCP Dock from your applications/menu.
  4. In the MCP Dock UI, connect to your MCP data sources (Official Registry and Smithery) and start browsing the MCP Store for available servers and skills.
  5. For any MCP server you want to use, use the integrated installer/auto-configure flow to install and configure it for your target clients. The app will handle dependencies and generate the necessary configurations locally.
  6. Use MCP Inspector to test server tools before applying them to your clients. Save and back up configurations as needed.

Notes:

  • Data syncs with Official Registry and Smithery occur automatically every few days; you can trigger manual syncs from the UI if needed.

Additional notes

Tips:

  • Ensure your internet connection is stable for initial data sync and for accessing the MCP Store.
  • Data and configurations are stored locally per the FAQ; you can navigate to the config directory to back up manually if desired.
  • The application supports offline work with locally stored configurations once fetched, but internet is required for loading the MCP list initially.

Common issues:

  • If an installer reports as damaged on macOS, run: xattr -cr /Applications/MCP\ Dock.app
  • If a server fails to install, check that the target client is supported and that the latest MCP Dock data sync has completed.

Environment variables and configuration options:

  • MCP Dock manages its own configuration files internally; advanced users can export/import configurations through the UI. There are no mandatory environment variables required for standard operation.
